Behavioral Approach

Behavioral Therapy is based on the belief that behavior is learned. Classic conditioning is one type of behavioral therapy that stems from early childhood. Siobhan works on changing unwanted and destructive behaviors through behaviour modification techniques such as positive or negative reinforcement.

Cognitive Approach

This type of therapy focuses on how people’s thinking can change feelings and behaviours. Cognitive therapy focuses more on the client’s present situation and negative thinking than on their past.

Behavioral and Cognitive approaches are usually combined in Siobhan’s Therapy sessions and this is called Cognitive Behaviour Therapy.

ACT Therapy

Siobhan is qualified in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). ACT is centered on such questions as “What do you really want your life to be about”. It emphasises such processes as mindfulness, acceptance and values in helping clients overcome obstacles in their lives.

Humanistic Approach

Humanistic approach includes client-centered and existential theories. Client centered therapy focuses on the belief that a client controls their own destiny and the therapist role is to show genuine care and interest in helping the client in the right direction.
